# How to order a criminal record certificate?


A criminal record certificate is confirmation from the police of whether a person has any remarks in the criminal record.  
It is a **legal requirement** for certain roles, especially where individuals will work with children and young people, or in positions of particular trust.  

In Right Person, you can order a police certificate as a **standalone check**.  


## How to order a police certificate – step by step

1. **Log in**  
   Go to [rightperson.com](https://rightperson.com) and log in to your account.

2. **Start a new order**  
   Click **Create** in the main menu, or select **send check** under*Tools*.

3. **Choose Individual background checks**
   Select Norwegian Criminal record certificate 

|| Note: The criminal record certificate can only be ordered under individual background checks. It is not part of our pre-made bundle of background check.

4. **Add candidates**  
   When adding candidates, you must enter the following details:  

* **Name**  
* **Email address**  
* **Role/position**  
* **Employment type** (e.g., permanent or temporary)  
* **Start date**  

   You can add candidates one by one, or use the Excel import to upload several at once.

5. **Customize the order**  
   Check that the information is correct, and optionally add a message that will be included in the invitation sent to the candidate.

6. **Send**  
   Click **Send** to complete the order. The candidate will then receive an email invitation to upload and share their criminal record certificate 



## After ordering

* The candidate logs in, confirms their identity, and uploads the police certificate in the portal.  
* You can track the status for each candidate directly in the portal.  
* Once the review is completed, you will see the result in the report.
