# What kind of ID document do I need to upload?


As part of the background check, we need to verify your identity.  
This ensures that your information is handled securely — and that it’s really you participating in the process.

This can be done through electronic ID (such as BankID) or by uploading a valid ID document, depending on what is available to you.



## How is my identity verified?

### Electronic verification (automatic)

* Norwegian candidates verify their identity with **BankID**  
* Other Nordic candidates use their national e-ID solutions  

> This happens directly in the portal — no uploads required.



### Document-based verification (manual)

If you don’t have access to electronic ID, you can instead:

1. Upload a photo of a valid ID document  
2. Upload a selfie  

Our system:

* Confirms the authenticity of the document  
* Compares facial features from the photo and ID  
* Checks for signs of manipulation  
> 📌 We can verify ID from over 200 countries and territories.



## Accepted ID documents

To complete the background check, you must upload valid identification.

> 👉 Accepted documents may vary from country to country.  
> You will receive clear guidance during the upload process if a document is not accepted.




### Commonly accepted documents

Depending on your country of residence, the following are often accepted:

* Passport (Norwegian or foreign)  
* National ID card  
* Residence permit card  
* Driver’s license (in some countries)  

> 📌 You will receive specific instructions during the upload — please follow them carefully.




## Tips for uploading

* The image must be sharp and well-lit  
* The full document must be visible (not cropped)  
* Avoid glare and shadows  
* The document must be valid (not expired)  
* You may upload in JPG, PNG, or PDF format
